Loren’s Intimate Lakeside Wedding in a Reimagined 1940s Lace Wedding Dress

Happy anniversary, Loren 🤍
She married her beau, Ryan, in October in Wimberley, Texas, at The Water's Point, in an intimate, unfussy celebration. Wildflowers, a veil caught in the breeze and a quiet lakeside at dusk. A true fairytale, and a dress made for one bride, reimagined by another.
Loren travelled all the way from the US to try on this original 1940s lace and net wedding gown with us in the UK, and fell in love with it. The dress then set off on its own journey, carried across the Atlantic by a friend to meet her back home.
It came with a matching long-sleeved bolero, which Loren reworked herself into the soft fluttered sleeves you see here, making the dress entirely her own.
Reimagining a vintage wedding dress
Many brides fall for a vintage gown, then feel discouraged because it isn’t quite right. Maybe the sleeves, neckline or fit don’t feel like them, and they don’t know what’s possible. The answer is usually a lot. Sleeves can be added, removed or reshaped, bodices restructured, and hems and fit adjusted, all while keeping the original fabric and history of the dress.
Loren’s gown is a perfect example: one small, thoughtful change turned a 1940s piece into something that felt completely hers.
If you’re unsure what a dress could become, we’re happy to advise. Book an appointment and we can talk through the options together. You can also explore our Adored Bridal collection of vintage gowns we’ve reworked and reimagined ourselves: original fabrics and silhouettes, redesigned for today’s bride.
