Heirloom 1930s Cherry Blossom Peignoir Set M

A rare and absolutely incredible 1930s art deco peignoir set: a dressing gown and a matching slip, in soft cherry blossom tones. The robe is maxi length, with a collar, short sleeves with removable shoulder pads, pockets and an open front. Under it, the bias-cut slip has a V-neckline, a low back and an empire waist. Both are made in slightly sheer, silky rayon. We washed the set by hand, mended it stitch by stitch, and covered the old breaks and snags with delicate floral appliqués, every one sewn on by hand, to give it a new life. Wear it together for the boudoir or the wedding morning, or take them apart: the slip on its own as a dress, and the robe over anything.
